How RSS Works?
We’ve been hearing and talking about RSS, but the question is, do we really understand what does this mean, or how does this thing work? Herewith, we’ll get to know RSS better and understand its process. The RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication”. The RSS is one way of sharing news, headlines, updates and notices to people. This feature is usually used by websites that are in this business such as blogs, newsletters, articles and a wide variety of social media sites. RSS is very important in terms of getting updates of the organizations that you follow. For an instance you’re connected to weblogs, so instead of getting updates via email you get notified through RSS. The updates on RSS are more organized than those sent out through email. Also you’ll no longer have to sort out and check each website if you want to get some update. RSS is the one that do the job for you and all you need to do is get updated and read the notices.
The main function of RSS is to notify people of the new information. The RSS information headline is very easy to understand and all the information is readily available. The RSS gives you the list of updates that are clustered from the newest to the oldest. The content of each notification includes the title of the headline or blog, the short summary and the link to the website so that you can read the full page of the update.
The RSS uses an RSS aggregator wherein the information is coded in an XML language and all information is listed in a single file similar to a normal webpage. The RSS aggregator serves as a web browser for the updates. The RSS aggregator automatically gets updated once there’s a new notice from a certain website you’re linked with. With this, you’ll no longer have to check from time to time to check for updates. All you have to do is scroll on the page and get a summary of updates. There are various aggregators available for your RSS. Some are provided through your web browsers, others are incorporated on the emails and others are downloaded on your personal computer. Most of the websites nowadays have RSS feeds. You can identify the RSS present on the website by providing a link on the webpage or an orange button with names as XML or RSS. You may also identify an RSS when you see a “Syndicate This” link on the page. These RSS links are directed to the RSS feed file. Once you get the RSS link, you can then link that to your RSS aggregator to monitor your feeds. The aggregator will monitor the updates and notifications for you. Most of the files provided in the RSS feeds are in the XML format. The XML file formats are created in a variety of ways. Most of the websites have special content management program. The articles or blogs written by the author are added to the content management program and then published. The file created through this is in HTML format. This is the same process used in the RSS feed XML files. Some of the tools used in this program are Blogger, LiveJournal, Movable type, and radio.
Using the RSS feed is a simple process to do and of great benefit for us. It is very helpful that you get automatically updated of the news and fast facts about the link you’re following. You’ll no longer need to go through a tedious process of checking your email always and sort out the updates that you receive.
