The best kids board games are turning digital

Do you want to pay your phone bill? No problem; turn on your computer and pay via the provider’s website. Do you want to do your grocery shopping? No problem; simply go online, pick what you want, and wait for it to be delivered to your door. Do you want to watch Ben 10 Ultimate Alien? No problem; simply go on the internet, hunt down the series, and click play. The point being proven here is that literally everything can be done online nowadays. The world has well and truly turned digital. One area that is very much emerging onto the digital scene is board games. Traditional board games have taken on a new lease of life via digital platforms, such as the internet and apps. But, what are the best board games that have turned digital?

Jigsaw

Jigsaw puzzles have well and truly stood the test time. They are toys that have provided people with entertainment for years and years. In fact, John Spilsbury is credited with having commercialised the jigsaw as long ago as 1760. It is unlikely that jigsaw puzzles will ever be viewed as outdated, and this rings even more true now that digital versions have been introduced. You can find a great amount of jigsaws available on the internet and smartphones. A lot of these jigsaws are based around popular cartoon characters in order to make them appeal more to young children. If your child likes to watch Ben 10 Ultimate Alien then you will be able to find a monumental number of Ben 10 jigsaw games for your little one to play.

Scrabble

You should definitely encourage your children to play scrabble. It is a game that is highly entertaining yet at the same time it provides huge benefits with regards to learning the English language. Your children will develop their spelling skills and they will also pick up some new words along the way as well. The great thing about the digital versions of Scrabble is that they allow children to play against other individuals. This is a lot better than playing against an automated computer response. Another great thing about the digital version is that it tots up the score so you don’t have to. There is nothing worse than having to multiply the scores and add them together and so on and so forth.

Hungry Hippos

Hungry Hippos is a fantastic game that a lot of people from the 90s will associate with their childhood. If you have not heard of the game then essentially the concept revolves around four hippos – one for each player. There are lots of small balls released into the middle of the game board and each player has to open and close their hippo’s mouth in order to capture as many food balls as possible. The great thing about this game is that it has been turned into an app. Very few would have expected that this concept could be achieved digitally. However, it has been and the results are great.

The games mentioned in this article are fantastic traditional board games, yet they are even better when played via the digital versions. These games are simply further proof of how the world is turning digital. You can do practically everything on the internet; you can watch Ben 10 Ultimate Alien and you can even pay your phone bill – the possibilities are endless.
