iPhone 5 lacks killer feature, still impresses

Looking into the features, design and finish, any one would love to own this fascinating phone and why not when it has the big brand name tag of Apple but is just the brand name sufficient? Does this newly introduced iPhone 5 justify the expectations which the u=public and others had from it. Read on to know more.

 

With tough competitors on the other side, Apple needs to come out with a phone which would be a fitting answer for others such than the question of comparison never lies, but does iPhone 5 meet those expectations. When the question of the acceptance of this iPhone in the market, then the answer would be affirmative as they go by the figures and when one looks into the values one finds that there has always been a positive slope in the sales of the iPhone after every new iPhone release. This all new iPhone 5 which has been introduced has an awesome 4” retina display providing better and faster LTE-wireless network. In addition, the phone also comes with a customized chip which has been specially designed by Apple known as A6. This A6 chip has allowed Apple to come up with this all new thinner and sleeker version of iPhone 5 having wider screen and dimensions. Weighing almost 3.95 ounces with a width of 2.31”, this iPhone 5 that has been launched id completely made up of glass and aluminum.

As the features of this upcoming iPhone 5 has been rumored for quite some time, reducing the excitement of the launch of this smartphone. Two major things which can be descried for this iPhone 5 is its wider screen display and the faster access to internet. Let’s discuss in brief about the features of this iPhone 5 in brief. To start with, there is the best part which is the fact that this phone is much thinner with 0.30” in comparison to 0.37” that was present in iPhone 4S. Though Apple boasts that this is the thinnest phone in the market, but we are all aware of the fact that this race keeps in changing and none has the crown for long. The display is of 4” from the original dimension of 3.5” though the resolution has remained the same of 326 pixels for every inch with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Wide display to the user implies one more row in the home screen which is welcome news as it would let you reduce the number of home screens. Furthermore you get to see the whole five day week calendar in your screen, more number of events, and better utility of the iWork applications. Any kind of 3rd party applications would work easily on this interface but one would get to see black borders on the sides. In addition, Apple has also conveyed that any kind of wide screen movies would also look great when viewed giving a better resolution and saturation of color than what one could perceive in the previous iPhone 4S. Furthermore with the presence of touch sensors, it has been seen that iPhone 5 is much thinner due to which it is less susceptible to glares.

iPhone 5 has also fixed the flaw which was present in the previous model of iPhone 4 by replacing the glass-back with a metallic back. This was done as most of the user’s ended in cracking the iPhone when the dropped it accidentally from their hands. The metallic back might probably remind you of the original iPhone which had been introduced in the early 2007.

iPhone 5 also supports 4G- LTE networks which is great news apart from the other support which are already present like the GPRS support, EV-DO, HSPA, and EDGE. Now to know which carriers would be there that might support this LTE network consists of AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc for the American markets, the Rogers, Fido and Telus for the Canadian markets amd the SK telecom, Singtel etc. for the Asian markets. Telstra, Virgin mobile etc runs in the Australian markets whereas the Deutsche telekom for the European markets. When the carriers do not have the LTE networks, then the iPhone 5 would work upon the dual band of the 3.5 G HDPA.

The A6 chip that is present in the iPhone 5 is twice faster than the A5 chip. In addition one can find better speed while using graphics. Now though this chip is quite faster performance wise, it is much smaller in comparison to the A5 chip.

Coming to the battery life part, it has been seen that the iPhone 5 gives a better battery backup of round about eight hours on 3G and approximately eight hours in talk time. Roughly 10 hours backup is obtained while one uses the Wi-Fi and the same hours almost when any video is played. With a standby time of about 225 hours and 40 hours of much back up this is an awesome set for all age groups.

iPhone 5 is available in the markets in the black as well as white versions can be availed in 3 kinds of models of varied capacities. The one with the 16 GB comes at a price of $199 whereas the one with the 32 GB comes with a price of $299 and the third one with the 64GB has a price of $399. Coming to the camera part, there is the prime or the chief camera which has a 8 MP lens with an awesome resolution and picture clarity. The camera also has an illumination on the backside with a IR filter (hybrid) and a lens of 5 element nature having an aperture of f2.4. With the all new dynamic mode, it has been seen that when one launches the photography applications then it can run much faster in comparison to the older versions. Another new feature which one can see in iPhone 5 is the image –signal processor that is present in the A6 customized chip. With this one can bring in huge reduction in the noise spatially and can also bring in a kind of smart filter which aids in producing better clarity images and can also aid in capturing photos faster. In addition to this, there is the inbuilt panorama mode which aids in combining the shots taken into a single mega snap having 28 MP!

Coming to the secondary camera which is present in the front end can easily shoot videos of 720 p high definition nature with the assistance that it gets from the back side illuminated sensor. The launch of iOS 6 has been heard for quite some time now but one need to check which providers or carriers would allow these features as not all allow the same. Video recording clarity and image quality is awesome with features like better face detection, image-stabilization, etc. The phone also allows you to capture snaps while you are shooting a video.

The audio part compared to the previous model has an additional microphone where one lies in the bottom, one on the front end of the handset and the third on the rear side of the handset. The speaker contrary to the previous models (2 magnets) has 5 magnets now! The presence of a wideband –audio feature provides better natural sounding voices. The iPhone 5 has a smaller dock connector known as lightning, which is reversible in nature. This dock being small would not allow any other accessories docks or chargers, adapter cables etc to be used with this new iPhone 5, thereby rendering them all archaic. Though Apple would provide its cables and other docks and accessories, one might find that the adapter given might seems a bit awkward to use with the accessories like bedside-alarm, music player, etc.

After viewing iPhone 4S, it would be really difficult to understand the differences with iPhone 5 from the side view. Though this iPhone 5 is not something which comes with drastically major differences in comparison to iPhone 4S, but there have been few slight changes made like in the display, weight, the iOS 6 presence, better pixels and the trump card – 4G- LTE along with the better and improved battery life it provides.

The iTunes feature has also been reworked upon to make a better and simplified interface along with integration with iCloud and an addition of a mini player. The developers and engineers feel that by doing this, the iTunes feature would become all the easier for individuals to use thereby providing smooth navigation with an enhanced performance. As music seems to be there in the veins of all in Apple, reason which it went on to create iPod and iTunes which has gone far in revolutionizing the musical industry. New and better iTunes developments have been introduced and one can get to see more of them when the same would be live by 19th September 2012. Let’s see how well iPhone 5 performs in the market with all these new and improved features but may be discarding to incorporate the NFC might cost Apple badly when all its rivals in the market have the same.
