Laptop innovator Bill Moggridge dies aged 69

The British designer of the world’s first clamshell-style laptop, Bill Moggridge, has died aged 69.

His Creation GRID , first ever design on the Laptop which cost about $8000 and was the monster. The design of the Grid was to powerful that Moggridge was awarded with Prince Philip Designer Prize 2010.


Released in 1982 and sold for a whopping $8150, the laptop weighed in at 10lb, 2oz (4.6 kilos). So it was more luggable than portable. GRID new to the market , it was a good thing. GRID became success , even NASA Astronauts took it to Space Shuttle.
