How to get Netflix streaming on Ubuntu 12.10

Linux users, no more having to depend upon streaming devices or watching Netflix on your WII or PS3.Netflix streaming is now available for the Ubuntu 12.10 desktop.

The credit for Netflix app goes to Erich Hoover.Eric Hoover has recently developed Netflix Desktop, an application that lets you watch Netflix streaming videos on your Ubuntu 12.10 PC.

Author's Note: I developed the procedures below on my Ubuntu 12.10 PC. I could install and configure Netflix Desktop only on Ubuntu 12.10; I could not install and configure Netflix Desktop on my Ubuntu 12.04 PC.

  • Once the update completes, issue the command sudo apt-get upgrade

  • Accept the updates

  • If prompted (in case of a kernel upgrade), reboot the machine
