Nanotechnology has had a significant boom in recent years, since companies have started to “think small.” Technology is constantly increasing at a very fast pace. Think about it, a few years ago nobody had a smart phone and now everybody's using them; and let's face it, smart phones aren't exactly phones any more, but miniature computers.
Changing the focus of the eye isn't a problem. We've all seen thousands of people wearing glasses and contact lenses to improve their sight, and now many are starting to use laser surgery. The problem with this is that changing the focus of the eye for close range vision meant that normal images would be more difficult to see. This was always a problem until now.
Getting text messages delivered to contact lenses could have many benefits in the future. They could be used for medical purposes by controlling light transmission; cosmetic purposes to change the iris a different colour; or simply for general convenience and communication. So now it's time to stop dreaming about the technology we've seen in films for the past few decades and to start getting excited!
