Do you know Google Disavow

Disavow means Disown, Repudiate, to disclaim connection with. It was introduced by Matt Cutts at Pubcon, Las Vegas 10/16/2012. It is basically introduced by Google to disavow or devalue bad links and sites.

Matt Cutts advised that a proper caution must be taken to use this tool. Principally, this tool is intended to be introduced in the wake of Google Penguin, and is supposed to help the webmasters specify Google of those inbound links which are unwanted. This tool could be a blessing in disguise for those whose sites have been negatively affected by unnatural links, penguins or any other type of link spam penalty. This (Google Disavow) comes as an intermediate solution. You can get out of those bad-links in a reasonable amount of time, without getting your site’s rank being affected forever. It has received mixed response from the webmasters.

For months after this, removal of links was being developed to be the new link building. Webmasters SEOs consumed innumerable time wearyingly examining their back link profiles created before and asking webmasters to remove bad back-links for their own good. It was necessary to reorganize the framework and go a step back for removal of bad links.

Google’s Disavow Link’s significant feature is that- this tool comes to you with a large warning. And not for those ones who does not know a bit about this tool. According to Matt Cutts, they should avoid using this tool. This sure states to us how powerful this tool really is. The far-reaching consequence of algorithm updates can never be estimated, but seeing these repeated warnings often leads to some serious attention.

Using Disavow tool

Google Disavow

Well, only some serious and expert Webmasters have been advised to use this tool, but it is not so hard to follow. You can at first log in to your Webmaster tools account, go to the website where you want to use that tool. By clicking on ‘Disavow Links’ tag, you will be aggravated to upload a text file. This file contains the information through which Google tells you which URLs or domains should be ignored during analysis of inbound links on to your URL.

Who can use this tool?

Google Disavow

With its launch, a new question aroused- Who can use this tool? Google Penguin hit many websites which have gained links through spamming, purchasing or other so-called-wrong techniques. This tool was basically for them to infuse a new lease of life into their sites by removing those links. The Penguin had caused so much of anxiety among the SEOs and webmasters. People were desperate to find a way to get those links reduced and start work afresh on those pages. This also led to some “negative SEO” where people could point to some links as harmful and it led to removal of quality ones too. It also made a new business where people would work-for-bucks to spend their time over link removals. Reworking on Data and Anchor-Text

Disavow also gives webmasters the privilege of removing the anchor text for those links which were redeemed to be getting no links.

How helpful is it?

Many webmasters still don’t use this tool, but I would suggest them to have second look at this. If you use this tool and that’s too “perfectly”, it will surely help you. Essentially, if your linking is based on bad links, expect to lose your rank.
