With every Bond movie we come across a few characters that give the required depth to the real Bond. Currently Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever and Sky fall shows exactly why. Grossing over $300 million globally, this movie shows the more humane side of the great manipulative secret agent the world has ever known. And yet he is more than the shadow of himself at his best. This movie doesn’t show Bond as a weak and fading hero, rather it shows that he’s slowing but when time comes he can be as fast as he wants. With a year that has got its audience marveled with many blockbuster movies, the two-and- half hour flick sets itself apart with the trademark exotic locales, hot girls and a tougher villain.
There are many reasons for which we may like the movie. But some of us who are quite in awe may hate it because of the enviable few reasons. Firstly we do hate the weapons and gadgets that are at the disposal of ‘His Majesty’s Secret Service man”. He has a deadly and multitasking watch and the weapon present in the artillery along with the famous Aston Martin car could be a real need for many of us. The amount of research “Q’ the gadget guru of this movie franchise put into practice makes many of us wonder about the limit of his imagination. The use of them along with a backdrop of Adele’s music direction takes us into another world of its own. Secondly, Sky fall shows about a man who may be a legend in his field but has grown tired of fighting his adversary and looks more human. He gets tired, or lousy or maybe battle worn, but irrespective of that it shows what secret service could actually be and takes its toll on a human body. Though seemingly insipid, he still has the pounce of a cheetah whenever it comes to survival instincts which show he is still at large for those who may want to write him off. Another perception, which maybe a reason to hate the movie could be the villainous role which is played by a former spy from the same agency. He is maybe the first gay villain who gets better of James bond quite a few times. Also the role of Bond’s boss ‘M’ was an intriguing one who herself shot the protégée, and the emotional toll she takes on herself is almost the center point of the movies theme and justifies her words decades ago when she had said that she had no qualms in sending Bond to death if it yields some positive result. But the single most things that would anyone die for is the beautiful and exotic locales that Bond has to travel and how come he has all of the good looking girls available. The scenic beauty forms the ultimate veil over the sinister of activities and the girls really adds to the feeling that death is beautiful. With great foods and drinks accompanied, this is one thing that sets Bond really apart. But whatever maybe the reason for the success of the movie no one can ignore the contribution of the director Sam Mendes in creating a perfect bond movie. He is a great director and knows well how to use his artistes so that the movie is not a mere entertainer but becomes a piece of art. Clearly he is in line to start to the debate about who can make the ultimate Bond movie.
The enigmatic and iconic character of James Bond is touching the realms of fantasy as they engage the audience in such a way that we ourselves start dreaming of the things we have to take into our stride if we replace the man on screen and that is their secret recipe for this immense success.
