Iron-Man-3-The Good-or-The-Ugly

As soon as Iron Man 2 opened in both North America as well as the UK a week prior, it already managed to accumulate over $300 million at the worldwide box office over a ten day period. This is definitely not considered bad, and the reasons are obvious as to why this movie turned out to be such as success. Even though we already knew we'd be seeing more of the genius weapon's mogul Tony Stark wearing his Iron Man suit in The Avengers, it's time that we start discussing what his next adventure might contain by looking at the facts and what we already know about Iron Man 3.

The Avengers is already the biggest movie opening in history and Marvel studios has already introduced both Captain America (the First Avenger) and Thor to the world last year. However, it might be a year until we'll be seeing Robert Downey Jr. on screen again playing this hero. Iron Man 3 is scheduled to be released on May 3, 2013.

We all know how the Avengers unfroze Steve Rogers and introduced him to the modern era in the Captain America film. This means that what we can expect in Iron Man 3 from Tony Stark now that he's a full fledged Avenger is that he's going to carry a lot of responsibility and also be forced to acknowledge the existence of the other heroes.

So what is the Iron Man 3 going to be about and who's going to be the next villain? If you’re already a fan of the comic books you’ve most likely heard of Mandarin, known to be Iron Man’s archenemy. And ever since the introduction in part #1 when Tony Stark made it publicly known that he was Iron Man, fans were left with that famous sequel-to-come feel and speculated of the introduction of Mandarin. Even though the plot currently remains unknown, it has been rumored that Tony Stark will head off to China to face his biggest and toughest opponent so far - Mandarin. In case you aren’t familiar with the comics, here’s some background information to fill you in as well as more details about to upcoming movie.

Who is this Mandarin character?

Like I said, Mandarin is known to be Tony Stark's archenemy. In Iron Man 3 it's been confirmed that British actor Ben Kingsley is going to be playing the part of Mandarin. And if this is the first time you've heard of this character but would like to know more you should know that the first time he was showcased it was in a comic - Tales of Suspense #50 as one of those characters who wanted to rule the world by themselves. He was then featured in the 90's on FOX in the Iron Man Cartoon and has also appeared in the recent animated Iron Man cartoons. Mandarin was born into a very rich family, next to royalty. Genghis Khan was his father's ancestor and his mother was a British aristocrat. After his birth they both passed away quickly so he was left with his aunt to raise him. She was the type of woman to be angry at the world, and being that she served as his role model - he soon followed in her footsteps. The wealth his family left behind had been spent for his education ad learning science as well as how to fight. By the time he was an adult he didn't have a dime left to his name. That is the reason why the Chinese government decided to kick him out of his home, due to the fact that he could no longer afford to pay taxes. This enraged him plenty so he spent most of his time looking for a way to get revenge for it.

After that Mandarin goes on a journey to the Valley of Spirits which is known to be untouched for thousands of years before him. He there found an alien that looked like a dragon which is called the Makluan and also a ship. He spent some time out there studying the different alien species and then went on to acquire the 10 rings found on the ship. These are known as the Makluan rings and whoever wears them will possess infinite powers, god-like powers. He could easily use those powers to control people with his mind and energy beams, and before that no-one actually knew these rings were capable of such a thing. He went on to use them to take over the Valley of Spirits and his goal after that was to use them to rule the world. The best way for him to do that was to use technology so he came up with a brand new plan to steal the weapons built by Tony Stark, so Tony will most likely go out to China and investigate. This is the most probable start to Iron Man 3.

At first Justin Theroux also known as the writer of the Iron Man series made a statement that he wasn't sure whether or not he'd be writing Iron Man 3 because they were all focused on the storyline for The Avengers and so they couldn't tell. However, now we know for sure that the screenplay is going to be written by Shane Black and Drew Pearce and filming has already started in China, North Carolina as well as Miami.

Even though we aren't completely sure whether or not Theroux is going to be involved in Iron Man's next adventure (and it wouldn't surprise me one bit of he is), it's very probable that Jon Favreau is going to be helming this entire project.

However, one of the things that almost always has to be taken in consideration when making a solo superhero movie (after a crossover movie such as The Avengers has already been made) is that the whole process might be a lot more complex. Why in the world would Iron Man himself head off to face his biggest enemy so far without the help of his superhero friends? What are the other Avengers going to be occupied with in the meantime?

Favreau also claims that there's absolutely no chance Mandarin is not going to be the main villain of Iron Man 3 giving us something to eagerly look forward to as fans.

I personally believe that Thor had always concerned us with how he'd be accepted being that Iron Man is based on reality and Thor is coming from a totally different world and is considered a god. However, I also believe taht things were made quite clear with the Avengers by opening up plenty of supernatural and mystical elements and combining them with our very own reality. Regardless of what happens, fans are still going to openly accept this push into fiction.

There's also a possibility of some serious changes happening with our main character. We've noticed how the 10 mystical rings of the Mandarin are turned into an entire organization instead of just ten regular rings Mandarin decided to wear.

The officially unknown plot might leave some of us die-hard fans a bit agitated, but nevertheless there is an already set date as well as shooting has already started leaving us with something to eagerly look forward to in the new movie.
