Five Steps To Extend The Life Of Your HP Inkjet Printer’s Cartridges
Color Usage
One thing that is absolutely true all of the time is that your color cartridges will go faster than your black ink one. The reason for the difference is that your black ink is only one color, while the color ink has to combine colors in order to get one right. In many cases you will be using the color ink cartridge when you are printing a regular document such as a letter. Make sure that you are using the color cartridges only when it is necessary. If you do not need it, then choose the black ink.
Manage The Ink Used
A lot of people do not know this, but you can actually tell your printer how much ink it should be using to print documents. That process is usually done with the help of special programs which you can download that will send the message to your printer every time you use it. This is by far one of the best investments that you can make as it will save you a lot of money in the long run.
Proof Read
The process of proof reading every document should come naturally, but a lot of people still do not do it. When you make a mistake on an important document only to find it after you printed it you are spending double the amount of ink that you would have used otherwise. Get in the habit of proof reading everything that you print and extending the life of your cartridges will always be easy.
Use Draft
Another great way to get more life out of your inkjet cartridges is to use the draft option as opposed to regular printing. The quality suffers very little and you save a lot of ink. To use draft go to the “printers and fax” section of the control panel and right click on your default printer. Left click on printer preferences, then Advanced, and then select draft. Once you click ok you will be set. If you need to print in better quality you always have the choice to override it.
